World Environment Day, hosted this year by Saudi Arabia, provides a platform for raising awareness on environmental issues such as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development and wildlife crimes.
The theme for World Environment Day 2024 is "Land restoration, tackling desertification, and drought resilience." This theme highlights the urgency to revive our planet's degraded lands and calls for global action to restore billions of hectares by 2030, as outlined in the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
Let’s celebrate our progress, yet continue to be mindful about how we can all help protect our global environment. While the challenges can feel overwhelming, all actions, large or small, can make a difference!
