Most of the U.S. Sunflower crop has been harvested and in the bin for storage. It looks like yields and quality are average this year with typical pest and disease pressures that are common with Sunflower. Nationally fewer acres were planted this year (-25%) mostly due to growers planting other crops that are providing a better return. In addition, Sunflowers can be a difficult crop to grow. The general consensus is harvested availability will be less than forecasted leading to the potential for higher product costs and lower availability as we get into the Spring and Summer months. Hoover Ingredients’ strength is in our long-standing domestic Sunflower sourcing relationships. We would welcome the chance to assist with your U.S. Sunflower kernel needs.
