The U.S. Sunflower crop started harvesting in October and will go for another few weeks or so. Planted acres were way down this year – almost 45%. Large previous crop carry in, lower prices, as well as better margins planting other oil seed crops are a few of the main contributors to the reduced planting this year. Although the final results are not in, yields are expected to be good with favorable growing conditions in the Spring and Summer. Hoover Ingredients’ strength is in our long-standing domestic Sunflower sourcing relationships. We would welcome the chance to assist with your U.S. Sunflower kernel needs.
