I would like to share a couple notes on the Pecan market. Newly harvested Pecans are available now on conventional and organic will be soon to follow. Currently, despite low carry in inventories from the 2022 crop, conventional supplies are adequate. However there have been strong new crop purchases from China out of Georgia that have made a dent in availability, and this buying is expected to continue for conventional varieties. It’s interesting to note that some organic orchards were turned back into conventional as growers were not seeing the profit margins they would like to see. This will take some organic supply out of the market and may cause some potential availability challenges as the season wears on. The Southwest growing regions are a bit behind on harvest. Mexico origin is a mixed bag on availability and quality, and Pecans are being consumed at increased rate domestically within Mexico.
